Donor Spotlight: Outlander Charity Quilt- Fiery Cross 2019

World Child Cancer would like to recognize the Outlander Charity Quilt Project. These fantastic supporters have gone above and beyond to raise money for World Child Cancer. We always love to see the beautiful quilts they make and hear about the festivals and Outlander fan groups they visit.

Read on to find out how YOU CAN WIN this year's gorgeous handmade quilt.

Our Inspiration:
We were inspired to raise funds for World Child Cancer by Caitriona Balfe, patron of World Child Cancer and leading lady of Starz TV OUTLANDER series. In 2015, following our local quilt guild’s fundraising example, we decided to make our first opportunity quilt. The design was inspired by the first book in Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series. This year’s quilt is inspired by the fifth book in the series, The Fiery Cross.

Your Opportunity:
When you donate to our fundraiser for World Child Cancer, we offer you the opportunity to receive the Outlander Charity Quilt as a thank you gift. For a $5.00 donation, you will have one opportunity; for a $20.00 donation, you will have 5 opportunities, and you will be helping children with cancer receive treatment.

How we raise money for World Child Cancer:
Since we began in 2015, we have brought the Outlander Charity Quilt booth to over a dozen Highland Gatherings around California and Outlander fan events across the U.S. We offer fans the opportunity to have their picture taken with “Jamie and Claire,” to learn more about Claire’s Herbal Remedies, to try their hand at time travel with our “Standing Stone” and, of course, make a donation to World Child Cancer. We have posted pictures of the hundreds of fans who have visited our booth at these events on our Outlander Charity Quilt Facebook page. We also solicit on-line donations from Outlander fan groups on Facebook. To date, we have raised over $15,000 for World Child Cancer.

Our team:
Mary Walcher designs and pieces the quilts and Donna Karbach quilts the layers together. Kathy Stewart helped create the Standing Stone and her hubby, Phil, designed and built our stands for Jamie and Claire. Susan Fraser Cate joined our team in 2018. Thank you!

We appreciate each and every donation to help children with cancer receive treatment and wish every donor good luck!

One donor's entry is drawn on December 2nd 2019 to receive the quilt as a thank you gift. Follow Outlander Charity Quilt for World Child Cancer on Facebook for event dates and locations, photos from past events, news and recipient information. We encourage you to share this story.
